Ecosia – The Search Engine That Plants Trees

Instead of using Google as your search engine why not try Ecosia and help plant trees when you go online.

Ecosia works by taking the profits from its paid adverts and uses this income to fund the planting of trees. Focusing on reforestation and conservationism, Ecosia considers itself a social business that is CO2-neutral and protects the privacy of its users. To ensure transparency Ecosia publishes monthly financial reports and tree planting receipts.

Ecosia first launched on 7 December 2009 to coincide with UN climate talks in Copenhagen and at the end of 2018 over 45 million trees had been planted. Countries that have received tree planting include Peru, Nicaragua, Colombia, Haiti, Brazil, Morocco, Spain, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Madagascar, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya and Indonesia.
